Eyebrow-raising experience

Max leans a little toward the metrosexual side. Always dressed well from head to toe, he even pays attention to his accessories. A Rolex watch, a Prada wallet--to look at Max on any given day you'd think he was a walking advertisement for GQ.

So it surprised me more than a little that Max neglected one very noticeable detail on his face--his eyebrows. When we first started dating, Max's dark, bushy brows looked like two fat caterpillars resting comfortably on his forehead. I thought this feature rather cute, but then gradually the two caterpillars began merge into one super caterpillar.

Sometimes I'd sit and stare at Max. He'd think I was looking longingly into his eye, and I was longing. I longed to grab my tweezers and put an end to Max's uni-brow. Still, I resisted my urges and said nothing. I mean, really, how do you tell your new boyfriend that he's in desperate need of a waxing?

Timing, as it turns out, is everything. Saturday, Max treated me to a pedicure at my neighborhood spa. After my toes were polished and dried, I asked Max to accompany me to the waxing room where I planned to have my eyebrows shaped. Max watched as the esthetician applied the warm wax to my brows and then quickly ripped it off. Like an old pro, I didn't even flinch.

"Does it hurt?" Max asked.
"Oh, it's not so bad." I checked my newly waxed brows in the mirror. "You know, baby doll, men sometimes shape their brows, too. Just a little... like right here." I pointed to the spot where his two fat caterpillars were merging into one colossal pest.

So much for subtle gestures.

Fortunately, Max wasn't insulted. He smiled as he propped himself up on the table and asked the esthetician to wax his brow as well. It would all be over in less than a minute.

"Yeeouch." Max looked at me a little stunned and betrayed. "You're telling me that doesn't hurt?" he asked.

I smiled and held the mirror up to his face. "Doesn't that look better?" The results certainly negated his temporary pain. And even Max had to agree that two was better than one.

:-) It's always about timing isn't it Diane? You just got to find the correct time to broach a subject. Well done girlfriend!

You got Max to have his eyebrows done, Diane? *shaking head* You've only got yourself to blame when he starts looking at boys and not girls.

Waxing eyebrows is the start of that slippery slope. LOL Like dear old Nancy would say: Just say no!

Good for you! Nothing worse that bushy nasty eyebrows on a handsome man! I make shure my straight male friends get their eyebrows waxed at a certain salon here in Phoenix.

It never fails...they always thank me afterwards!

Have a great week!
