And so it begins...

Guten Abend! Iche heiße Diane Mandy. I spricht kein Deutsch.

Hallo from Mannheim, Germany. Max, Charlie, Rascal and I arrived on time and without incident on Sunday morning. After sleeping about 15 hours, Max and I ventured out for our first full day in Deutschland.

Here were the highlights.

* Registered with the governement and got tax I.D. cards
* Opened a bank account
* Went grocery shopping (not sure what I bought in some cases)
* Almost got hit by the tram while crossing the street
* Secured desperately needed Internet service
* Bought a hair dryer (second most important item of the day)
* Didn’t find a kitty litter scooper (third most important item of the day)
* Almost got hit by a cyclist while crossing the street

All in all, I think it was a very productive day!

Wilkommen! (Ha ha.)

Possible substitute for kitty litter scoop is a metal slotted spoon.

Good luck and I look forward to reading all your ex-pat adventures!

Apparently you are going to have to work on your crossing the streets experience... a cyclist and a tram all in the first day!

Glad all is well :)

Other than almost getting hit, it sounds good. Wishing you more good ones...

Diane, thanks for the visit. There are a lot of books on my "to read" list, too. I think you should definitely read the Harry Potter series - they are not just for children - and you will be amazed at Rowling's creativity and imagination!

Hey, I just noticed that the comment I left here last night didn't register. Pooh! I said something like you had a very productive day! After the travel you just did, I might have slept for a week before venturing out!

So far, so good from the sounds of it! Glad you are settling in. I hope life doesn't bore you too much now that Max will be working and you will not. Maybe you should start writing a novel?... :o)
