Untimely Demise

MacBook Mandy died, suddenly and without warning, in his Bad Dürkheim home on Sunday morning. Mac, as he was known by friends and loved ones, played a role as key contributor to the Martini lounge, along with its many podcasts, movies, photographs. He was only 1-year old.

Mac is survived by his adoring and greiving owners, Max and Diane Mandy, as well as two jealous siblings Charlie and Rascal, who are gleeful that mom has so much free time on her hands now.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests complaints be sent to Apple.com in MacBook´s memory. The family also asks for respect and understanding during this most trying, and unconnected, time.

Funeral services will be held once it is determined whether the warranty of U.S.-purchased MacBook, valid until September 08, is legal and binding in Europe.

Hello, Diane!

My MacBook met An Early Demise, as well. It had a faulty hard drive which apparently Some MacBooks were installed with. Apple refuses to take responsibilty for The Error. I ended up needing to get A Brand New Hard Drive and I Lose Everything. I wonder if this is The Same Issue?

RIP, computer.

Meanwhile, my 4-year-old Dell, which is like being 95 in human years, is still ticking.

Please accept my sincere condolences at this time of your loss. I fear that MacBook Otter may be slowly going the same way.

Yes, the warranty is valid worldwide. Alas, there are no Apple Stores in Germany

OH NO.... I just can't bear the thought of a mac computer biting the dust. Especially as I'm sitting here writing on my brand new iMac. RIP little buddy... I hope your "parents" believe in reincarnation... or a twin sister.

that's so weird. aren't those macbooks relatively new? i have a 5-year old ibook that's still working (albeit slowly). that warranty is valid worldwide but you just need to figure out how to have it shipped back and forth from germany to have it serviced.

uh.....oh.

my deepest sympathies

the one bright note is usually things die a month after the warranty runs out, yours was kind enough to go within the warranty.

Poor You! I hope they do treat you right on that warranty.

That is one of my biggest fears. Which is why I bought a backup hard drive earlier this year. My LIFE is on my laptop.

Wow, um, does that make me pathetic?

And no, I'm not looking for a formal answer to that question.

LOL! You handled it much better than I did when mine died. Glad to see that it worked out (i.e. your last post).
