Parting is such sweet sorrow

I just wanted to send a shout-out to my fellow expatriate bloggers, who attend the 4th Annual Whiney Expat Blogger Weekend in Bremen. Max and I (and Charlie) thoroughly enjoyed meeting everyone and wish we could have made the farewell brunch this morning.

Even though this was the first organized blogger gathering I had ever attended, I never once felt as though I was meeting a group of strangers. Perhaps, part of this is the result of blogging--where virtually and with words each of your distinct voices and personalities shines through. Part of it could also be that, through our experiences as expatriates in Germany, we not only share a common bond, but also have become open to new and diverse personalities.

Whatever the reason--you people--Andrea, G, Yelli, Claire, headbang8, J, CN, Jen, Christina, Alice, Kim, Adam, Snooker, Cliff and Sara, and PapaScott--all rock! I only wish I had been given more hours in the day to get to know each of you better-- hopefully, next year.

I look forward to the opportunity to see you all again. On behalf of Max and Charlie: If you ever find yourself in the Rhineland Pfalz, please don't hesitate to look us up.

Special thanks to Claire who did an amazing job organizing and hosting the event. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Yeah, I'm sorry I didn't get to chat with you at all! Given the number of attendees, it was tough, but I'm grateful for the chance and looking forward to a chance meetup in the course of our travels in addition to the next "official" one (*cough*Berlin?*cough*).

I'm glad you had a good time. We had two of our local blog friends here for dinner last night, and we always have a very nice time together.

cliff- I regret not getting the chance to speak with you. But I am confused--I *thought* the next meet up was in the wine region, no?

That is great that wherever there are bloggers, there are blogger meetups! Sounds like a great group.

I'm sorry we didn't get a chance to chat more. I'll be looking for an excuse to get to your area soon ;)
You're near a museum were thinking of going to so you never know!

Really wish I could have spoken with you some more! Perhaps we won't have to wait until next year.

Diane, it was great to meet you!!
I'm happy to go anywhere next year, but you're right...the meet-up has never happened in a wine region before...and you and I know they're the jolliest German places of all. :)

Diane, I really enjoyed meeting you, hubby and dog.

If I ever find myself in Rhineland Pfalz? I find myself there about 330 days per year :)

I agree with Rositta, some day I will be there! And I did have to stop by just to see your version of the great WEB meet up!

I must say that a change in a city for me has eased my sense of missing Europe/Germany/Switzerland a lot less.
