I experienced something wonderful today--an instantaneous and overwhelming feeling of certainty. After visiting only two prospective homes this morning, I walked into an apartment and instantly knew it was *the one.*
It's perfect--a large and luminous dwelling with with top-of-the-line appliances, views of historic sights, and desirable neighbors including Escada, Hugo Boss, and Louis Vuitton.
And the best part is that Max felt its perfection, too. In fact, we've asked our agent to meet with the owner and iron out final details.
Wow.
Could we have really found our future home in only an afternoon?
The only hiccup might possibly be timing. Max learned it will take at least three months before he can get his work permit. Three months!!! I'm concerned the owner will not be willing to wait for us. So keep your fingers (and toes) crossed, won't ya?

Yes, you have found your new home in an afternoon.
The last three times I moved (Melbourne to Tokyo to New York to Munich) the first place I saw was the place I ended up. Happily.
And the word verification for this comment even has a bit of a Spanish flavour--"latinca". It's a sign, I tell you!
I'm completely twisted up hoping this works out for you!
I hope it works out. After spending the last week looking for a place in Brussels, I'm happy that you were able to find a great place so quickly.
That's so exciting! I'm glad you've found a place perfect for when I come to visit! ;)
Congrats!
When we found our place it was 4 months before we moved and the previous tenants were leaving at the end of that month.
The Company paid for 3 months on an empty apartment so that we could have it. It's common practice in the Corporate Expat World. Have Max check with his The Company.
Crossing fingers here!
It sounds perfect! I'll cross fingers and toes for you!
Sounds like a lovely place! Fingers crossed for you...
I will even cross things no respectable person will show in public.
We did the same thing here....found it the first afternoon, though we moved in that evening!
It may work out because people leave houses and apartments on the market for a long time, so they may not mind that it is empty for a bit, also with the 'crisis' going on here, they may be content with a tenant in a few months that SIGNS....bird in the hand and all that....good luck!
fingers are crossed that everything works out. That feeling of being "home" is exactly how I felt when we found out flat in Heidelberg.
Enjoy the tapas while you are there.
Pam
3 months is a long time to hold an apartment. Good luck to you!
Hope it works out for you! Crossing my fingers for you!
It's amazing if you did indeed find the home like that...that means it's meant to be, right?
I'm hoping for you, too! And also hoping to feel the same certainty about a new home when we start looking in WV!
Good luck!
This sounds like DESTINY, Diane!
If it truly is your home...everything will work out and the owner will wait!
I feel good about this!!!
And OMG...if you do move in, you may be able to get a Louis Vuitton handbag for half price!!
HAHAHAHAHA!

Man, i hope it does work out.
How exciting!! I will send lots of hope and positivity that way :-) We'll be moving back to the US for awhile in the summer and I am starting to get the new home itch too. Can't wait - don't actually want to go through the moving process - but want to be there!
Let it be the one!
Great news...I hope the owner is flexible. He'd regret not having you, Max, and Charlie as tenants.
Good luck chica!
