Impulse Purchase
It's not as extreme as the $900 sheets I purchased earlier this month, but I have done it again-- gone out and bought something extravagant for myself and my new(about- to- close- on) home.
This time my extravagant purchase is a coffeemaker, but not just any coffeemaker. It's a Keurig Single-Server Coffeemaker available at William-Sonoma and other fine retailers for a whopping $150.00.
It's hard to describe this space-age wonder. So, I'll allow the folks at William- Sonoma to describe it for me.
Keurig Single-Serving Coffeemaker
This machine is the best we've used for making single servings of coffee or tea, producing a customized, full-flavored brew in less than a minute. The machine combines microprocessor-controlled brewing technology and patented K-cups - portion cups holding the optimal amount of coffee or tea for one serving. Pressurized hot water flows through the K-cup to create the perfect beverage every time. Easy programming adjusts the water volume to vary brew intensity and cup size. Other amenities include a 48-oz. water reservoir, programmable on/off timer and removable, dishwasher-safe drip tray. K-cups for coffee and tea (sold separately) come in a set of 18. 17" x 12 1/2" x 16 1/2" high.
All I can say is, "WOW! This machine is truly amazing." The K-cups (about 10 dollar for 25 cups) contain fine teas and coffees and look like large coffee creamers. You pop a K-cup in the Keurig machine (without even having to remove the plastic covering), turn on the machine, and then Voila -a perfect cup of coffee in about 10 seconds!
I love coffee, but I hate making it. Coffee grinds are messy. I never measure correctly. It takes too long to brew for very short attention span. In truth, and I know this sounds crazy, I will as soon drive to the nearest coffee shop rather than make a pot of coffee at home. It happens all the time.
But now, with my brand new Keurig Single-Serving Coffeemaker, a perfect cup of coffee is only a click away. Oh, I just can't wait to try it out in my new abode! I'll be lazing around in my new sheets with a perfect cup of coffee in my hands. There is only one thing would make the scenario better-- a man to deliver the coffee to me. But, the cost of that little luxury might just be a little too great for even me.

Don't feel too bad. When I was working for NapaStyle we sold FrancisFrancis coffee/espresso machines for $500 and up.
Now. Doesn't it almost seem like a bargain?
Thanks! I'm feeling better already!
You have just helped me find the perfect Christmas gift for my girlfriend. I'm indebted to you.
But not so much as you are indebted to William-Sonoma if you bought this thing on a credit card.
Yeah, that joke was lame and obvious. I was going to broaden the reference to include the impending mortgage, but I know how those shifting house-closing dates make a person touchy and near-psychotic, so I decided against it.
But I don't suppose I get much credit for NOT writing a thing I shouldn't have even THOUGHT of writing and then referencing that some thing while explaining what a good guy I am for NOT writing it.
If you got lost somewhere in that last sentence, don't worry--so did I.
What were we talking about?
So now you tell me you have a girlfriend...;-)
Divine! I have the exact model! I bought mine a few weeks ago. I love mine. I just made myself an espresso martini. Something about holding a martini in hand.... Bette's Margo Channing taught me oh so well!!!!
Enjoy the moment!
*CHEERS*
We will break that puppy in style when I come down!
That Xavier--always gotta have the martini in hand!
Xav- Hey sweetness! Can you pass the expresso martini recipe along? Ms. SassyAssy and I would like to try it out in the near future.
Never liked coffee, but I am glad you got this machine! Sounds like a great buy and useful too!
I've contemplated this purchase on my own, let me know how you like it :) However if I get one does that mean I can't go flirt with the single guys at the coffee shop. *smile*
Seems like a great idea and not that expensive if you use it a lot. But--how does the coffee taste? I'm not sure I trust the little pre-packaged containers to be very, very fresh.
Laura - I should have talked to you before I bought it! I forgot about missed opportunities at the coffee shop.
Jamy - I'll do a thorough taste test and let you know!

Great news, indeed! Have another martini just for me!
*SHOOPERS*
We have one of those bad boys in the office break room. It is fantastic! The company pays for the coffe, so we have boxes lying around of every flavor you can imagine. Too bad I don't like coffee!! I hear a rumor that they are coming out with hot chocolate K-cups soon.
I broke the pot in this morning. All I can say is that the coffeemaker is a fabulous as I imagined. It doesn't even matter that I don't have my furniture yet. When you've got the Kuerig Single-Server Coffeemaker, you've got it all.
