It's been 54 very long days since I shaved my head bald to raise money for cancer. My short, blond Sharon Stone-like hairdo has been replaced by not so blond stubble. I've taken my vitamins; I've even talked to my hair. But nothing, it seems, has inspired my follicles to flourish.
People use the metaphor "like watching grass to grow" to describe something that is painfully slow. Let me assure you that today I wish my hair were grass. I'd have been able to cut it more than a few times by now if it were. Instead, my hairdresser/therapist Meghan has informed me that she doesn't need to see me for at least another month. There just isn't enough hair to work with. Sigh. The aftermath of shaving my head has been a slow, fashion-destructive experience.
But today--a glimmer of hope. I actually used hair product this morning. I moused my hair to give it a semblence of style. Actually, my moused hair is reminiscent of a very 80's "wet look." Still, I'll take what I can get. Bad style is better than no style, at this point.
Now if only I could find my old Flash Dance sweatshirt and leggings?

it may be growing slowly but at least you have hair. be happy!
all in good time my friend! all in good time!!
have a fabulous weekend!
What a wonderful thing to do in order to raise money for cancer! I've run a 5K to raise money for cancer, but that's about it. You are brave! and I saw that it contributed almost $1700. We need more people like you. Hopefully one day there is a cure. Today on the news they announced that there now is a vaccine for cervical cancer actually. Good news!
When my daughter was pregnant, and taking pregnancy vitamins, her hair grew so rapidly that it was almost possible to see it! Maybe you should take some of those for a while.....LOL
:-)
Well Diane, they say the Retro look is in. (Who is "they?")
Hang in there. Hope your weekend was a good one!

80s hair is hot. Even when your hair does grow back, I'd try to always keep it in some sort of style reminiscent of 1984.
But seriously, it'll take time. But the hair will grow again.
