Max and I try to spend Sundays touring around one of the small towns along the Weinstrasse. Today we visited medeival town of Freinsheim, which sits only a few kilometers from our house. Part of the town still features the old wall, which once protected it from invaders.

I've never had much desire to visit Germany, but your photos are all so charming that I'm changing my mind about it.
It's difficult to decide which of your boys up there is cuter, Diane. I guess it's great that you don't have to choose, you have both.
Very nice looking place.
I've spent quite a bit of time in Germany and love the gorgeous castles and quaint buildings on the Rhine. I remember once attending a beer festival in some tiny Rhine town (it had the odd sense to have copious amounts of beer available AND let people ride a ski lift into the mountains) and my 16 year old self back then got happily smashed then rode on a chair up and down a mountain while singing songs. My band also toured Germany in the '90s resulting in much hilarity, good beer and yummy chocolate and lead to me acquiring the phrase "Deutsches bier ist gut!" which really is all you need to know.
I love the cobblestones and pavers. All the texture gives a great visual foundation for the architecture.
