Bleh!!!

My world has been turned upside down. I discovered a falsehood in something I once thought was a universal truth.

All chocolate is NOT created equal.

Shocking, I know. This revelation came after biting into a bar that was, in fact, intended to be a gift after one of my recent dinner parties. While it looked like a tasty dark truffle mixed with cinnamon candy, it was actually a pairing of chocolate and some sort of cayenne pepper. I can take the heat, but the taste was truly terrible.

I apologize for not being able to post any more on this topic, but I must go and wash my mouth out with soap. Trust me, it’s certain to taste better.

It's a rough day when you bite into crappy chocolate. Take an aspirin and lay down for a bit. I know that's what I would need to do to recover.

Never understood people who like this super fancy chocolate with odd shit in it (Coriander once, ....can you IMAGINE..gross). Give me some good milk chocolate and I am happy....:)

My wife and little guy could tell you that all chocolate is not equal. They are dark chocolate snobs.

are you going to be OK?

Why on earth would they pair that with chocolate? Ick.

If you go to Switzerland, buy some Lindt truffles. They are much cheaper over there and boy are they ever good!

I was aware of this. On one had you have Cadbury's, Ghiardelli and Lindt. Then on the other hand (Satan's hand I call it) you have Hershey. URGH.

HA!

I've had chilli chocolate before and it was pretty horrible I thought. My coworker loved it though. They probably like Hershey too.

We have a restaurants here called Z'Tejas that serves and Ancho Chili Chocolate Pie.

I tried it once and ew. I love chocolate paired with many things, just not chili powder.

Ok...I'm a huuuge chocolate snob..Hershey or Nestle are not allowed in my house. I've never liked chocolate that was "messed with", but... a few years ago at a mountain top Easter brunch, I had a divine chocolate bark that was made up of great dark chocolate, dried cherries, roast pecans and a hint of spice. It was fabulous! Everyone was clamoring for the recipe. I'm sorry you had yuck spicy chocolate...cuz it really can be yummy... Honest!

Chocolate snob #2 (3?) here. I love gourmet chocolate, and nothing is worse than Hershey's. But then, there is "gewollt und nicht gekonnt," too, which is, I think, what you ran into. The most delicious artisan chocolates I ever had were made my Lillie Belle Farms in Oregon (http://www.lilliebellefarms.com)--everything's organic and unbelievably delicious. My husband ordered these for me for Christmas and V-Day and, I hope, also for my birthday (next week). As for industrially produced chocolates, nothing can separate me from my Mon Cheri.

I think Hersheys is made from nylon.

They sell these fancy truffles at our local organic store that have a tad of salt on top. Yum. I duuno about the chili though, that sounds suspect.

I don't have much of a sweet tooth, but as a coffee snob, a wine snob, scotch snob, and barbecue snob, I can relate.

Some of my "not so sophisticated" relatives like to give me wine as gifts. "Here, I know how much you like good wine," and they hand me a bottle of something I would use to scrub rust off my bumper.

We're so misunderstood

I love chocolate. Real chocolate, not the cayenne or lavander flavors that some chocolate makers now think are hip.

I'm just not hip enough I guess.

Give me See's or Godiva and I foget everyone around me until it's gone!!
