A Very Martini Toast: Mackin Ink

It isn’t every day I fall in love.

Maybe back in middle school, I crushed daily on a different boy. But as an adult, I don’t impress easily. Nevertheless, back in January, I fell hard when I stumbled on a new blog that took my breath away.

Clever, stylish, and beautiful written, Mackin Ink made my google reader in an instant. If it were man and I were single, I might have gotten on my knees and proposed to this blog. It’s that good.

Blogger karey m, mother of three lovelies and an editor at kirtsy.com (formerly sk*rt), works her magic almost daily and lures her reader with every word. There aren’t many writers who can pull off 'an ee cummings'—the exclusive usage of lowercase—but karey can and does. In fact, her writing--understated, elegant, and seemingly effortless--almost demands that it not be cluttered with unnecessary distractions like something as meaningless as uppercase letters.

My favorite Mackin Ink posts usually revolve around one, or all, of karey’s three daughters—grae lil, and esme. This post , dealing with the power of love, ranks among my favorites. Go ahead. Give it a read. You’ll come back and thank me for suggesting it.

When karey isn’t offering us a peek into her world-- Midwestern gal raising three children in Jordan-- she is dressing up her pages with trendy and fashionable photographs, clever and meaningful sayings, and artwork that will make your mouth drop. If you like pretty eye candy, you'll love Mackin Ink. Me? I go for the content and posts—really!

Three cheers and a Martini toast to karey. It’s a good thing her blog and I are both spoken for. ;-)

Look for the next Very Martini Toast in July.

I haven't gotten around to clicking through to your recommendation yet, but I just have to add that your graphic is giving me cravings. Good thing I have a bottle of vodka in the freezer...
