Mr. Blackwell turning in his grave...

As a hausfrau, I am certainly not one to criticize other people's fashion choices. But this?? If you were worth 50 gazillion, don't you think you could afford to wear something a little better or at least hire a new style consultant?

Honestly, folks, I see this photo and I'm not sure whether to pity or mow her.

I saw your comment on I Need a Martini Mom's page- congratulations on the twins! I read through some of your posts. Let me reassure you- you can do this. I have five children including a set of twin girls. The twins will be 8 years old next week! And I even had more children after that- my kids are 12, 7, 7, 5, and 4. I won't lie, it can be very difficult in the beginning with feedings and schedules- but you can do it. Charts are wonderful. And if you ever need to ask a question- feel free to ask me. Don't worry, you will be fine!

The dress(?) is bad enough, but the shoes are too scary. I saw a photo of her today that was scarier than this. If I can find it again, I'll send you the link.

Perhaps it is an attempt to prove how little money she has as part of the divorce negotiations...

LOL!! I just saw this somewhere else on the net and thought that she is losing her mind. Who on earth told her, "No, Madonna, trust me. Wearing a lawn to the unicef benefit is fierce!"

Awww, why do you have to go hatin' on Tinkerbelle?

With you...that dress is plain weird.

BCN...I know you have no idea of salary and benifits, but Max is likely to be making a decent wage given the job you described. If you have some cash it isn't too bad. The housing market is crazy expensive but can be dealt with.

You need to look at what you really want.

If you are going to have twins, a six floor walk up is O.U.T. no?

So, one of the things you have to make a note of is sun..some housing has very little and that gets depressing, especially if you are home with babies. Also ask about heat. Many places don't have 'calefació' You'll want it.

The next big question is where you want to live. If you are in BCN proper, you definately will want to be on the side of the city near the airport so Max doesn't spend his whole life in traffic. Whether you live in a poble outside of BCN or whether you live in BCN proper is another question. Sant Joan de Deu is out near the airport as well, and it is the children's hospital and is excellent.

If you live in a village, you will have the benifit of more community, a better chance of meeting people and cheaper housing. You will have a bit of a commute into BCN, look really carefully at the public transit systems, some towns have EXCELLENT service into BCN and some don't. Even if you have a car, parking in BCN is a drag and a half, so you will want to be able to go in on transit anyway.

You should be able to find something nice...though it will probbly be smaller than where you are in Germany (though I have no idea how big that is). The reality is that BCN is a very compressed town, squashed between the mountains and the sea...and all the villages around it are like that as well, so places are smaller than what I have seen in most of Germany.

If you click the "expat blog" button on my blog there are whole sections over there written by bloggers, about Spain.

IMHO, you porbably don't want to live right downtown with kids, but I honestly don't know, you'd have to decide.

For what it is worth, you should be able to find something that you will be happy with...it will probably be smaller than you have now.

Ask me any questions you want.

It is a beautiful city and the weird house we saw was weird, all the Catalans I have spoken to about it think it is strange as well.

Does that help?

OH! And the landlord is responisble for repairing everything in the apartment and re-painting it for the first month or so, then you are responsible for non-structurals repairs, so get EVERYTHING fixed when you first get in, even things you think MAY need fixing...and the guys who do the work are going to make you crazy and not clean up after themselves at all...like we're their mother or something...just saying.

and I was thinking that perhaps they were making a new flinstones movie.
the shoes may be worse than the dress.

AT LEAST HER DRESS GOT US TALKING.
Don't forget to tell your friends to vote for your story. Last day today!

Judging by those deltoids, she could be a formidable adversary... Might a suggest a riding mower with a hydrastatic control?

I'm probably not in a position to throw stones at her, I spend my days simultaneously over and underdressed, that whole naked tuxedo thing.

It is Gilligan's Island fashion wear.

I think she forgot the age old adage 'dress your age'...i'm not saying she has to dress, oh 50!!!!
but perhaps something a bit more tasteful other than crabgrass...LOL

Oh dear! Hasn't she got any friends who could tell her?

She looks like a Muppet. Or a Muppet reject.

Oh man! I saw that photo this morning and tried so hard to copy it to my blog - no go. It was meant for you...and the dog has no idea why I'm laughing so hard, pity or mow...now that was good girl.

I vote for mow. Or maybe Nair? Can I sound like my mother a second... "Such a pretty face, but..."

Guess I shouldn't comment. I like it when people insist on being who they insist on... even if it makes them look like a chia pet.
